HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, INKOSI YAMAKHOSI MMBELWA IV LAID TO REST TODAY

By: Qeko His Royal Highness Inkosi Yamakhosi Mmbelwa IV has been laid to rest today in a State Funeral at the King headquarters in Edingeni in Mzimba Kingdom. Thousands of people from across the country and beyond trekked to Edingeni to attend the burial ceremony of the departed Ngoni King. International delegates include the reknown His Royal Highness Inkosi Yamakhosi, Mpezeni of Zambia, who represented the Zambia ngonis and the Zambias President, Michael Sata, representatives of King Mswati of Swaziland, Prince Zulu who represented King Goodwell Zwelithini of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa and the Chewa King, Kalonga Gawa Undi Local delegates were led by the country’s State President, Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda and the Vice President, the Right Honourable Khumbo Kachali. In her remarks, the State President Dr. Joyce Banda reiterated that the departed King of the Ngoni people loved his people and that he deserved a State Funeral because of his tireless services to the nation and people of Malawi. Opposition leaders at the burial ceremony include, MCP’s John Tembo and DPP ‘s acting President, Peter Muthalika and many politicians, government leaders, church leaders and many Malawians from across the country. His Royal Highness, Inkosi Yamakhosi Mmbelwa IV ascended to the throne of his father in 1984 and has rule the Zwangendaba Nguni Kingdom for 29 years.

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, INKOSI YAMAKHOSI M’MBELWA KA ZWANGENDABA JELE HAS DIED

By: Qeko It is with sadness to learn that the second born son of Zwangendaba Jele ,His Royal Highness, Inkosi Yamakhosi Mmbelwa IV who is also the King of the Ngoni people in Mzimba Kingdom in Malawi has died early hours of today at Mwayiwathu Hospital in the commercial city of Blantyre. Ubaba omkhulu, ingonyama yethu, Mmbelwa was earlier admitted in the capital city before he was movedto Blantyre for a proper medical attention.The news of the demise of Ubaba wethu spread early hours of this morning and for some of us it has been hard to believe it because Ubaba has been the hub and the very pillar of the Kingdom. Many across the Kingdom up to this very moment are failing to comprehend it that the Lion of the People of Mzimba Kingdom has joined the ancestor because for a long time the people cherished his leadership and guidance as the King of the Ngoni people. Report reaching the Kingdom says that the body of our Royal Highness has been taken to the College of Medicine for embalming before its taken to the Capital city at Mtunthama State Palace where it will lie in state. His Royal Highness Inkosi Yamakhosi Mmbelwa IV ruled the Mzimba Kingdom during the reign of Dr. Kamuzu Banda, Bakili Muluzi, Bingu Wa Muthalika and the current Dr. Joyce Banda. He was one of the most prominent traditional leaders in Malawi. Burial of the late Inkosi yamakhosi will take place at Edingeni Headquarters in Mzimba Kingdom at a date to be announced later.
