THE REMAINS OF PROF BINGU WA MUTHALIKA ARRIVES IN BLANTYRE

The remains of the late President Muthalika arrived in the Malawi commercial city of Blantyre from the northern region city of Mzuzu on Thursday, the 19th of May. The remains of the former president arrived in the country days ago from South Africa where the President died of cardiac arrest. The past days, residents of the city of Lilongwe had been paying their last respect to their leader after which the body was flown to the northern region city of Mzuzu.

Reports from Blantyre indicate that the remains of the late President Muthalika arrived at Chileka International Airport in the afternoon of Thursday from the Northern Region City of Mzuzu. Welcoming the remains of the President Muthalika at the Airport were the country’s President, Her Excellency Joyce Banda and leaders of various political parties, government officials and members of the Muthalika family.

From Chileka Airport, the remains of the late President were taken to Sanjika Palace where residents of the city will be given an opportunity to pay their last respect to their leader. However in another development, Government has declared the 23rd of May a public holiday so as to give opportunity to Malawians to attend the burial ceremony of the late president which will take place at Ndata Farm.
